Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $9.5 billion horticulture industry. It works in partnership with Australia’s horticulture industries to invest in research, development and marketing programs that provide benefit to industry and the wider community.

Hort Innovation invests around $100 million annually in programs designed to align with the strategic investment priorities of Australia’s horticulture industries and the Australian Government’s Rural Research and Development priorities.

Hort Innovation was established following the acceptance of the recommendations of an independent review of Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) in 2014. The financial and other assets of HAL were transferred to HIA under the Horticulture Marketing and Research and Development Services (Transfer of Industry Assets and Liabilities) Regulation 2014.

As part of the Australian Government’s commitment to rural research and development, horticulture industries can access matching Commonwealth funding through Horticulture Innovation Australia for research and development activities.
