The true story of the man McIvor remains a mystery. Surveyor? Bushie? Station Overseer? Local pioneer? Whatever the legend, his notoriety named a region, upon which McIvor Estate now thrives.

Located in the coveted south end of Heathcote, Victoria, the vines nestle in the sought-after granitic soil amongst dramatic scenery of large granite boulders, majestic rolling hills and imposing gullies that are framed by the Great Dividing Range. Picture-perfect.

The property yields award-winning wines, an olive grove producing oils and fruit, and a small herd of Murray Grey breeding cows to keep an eye on things.

The olive grove was established in 1999 and 7.5ha are now planted to varieties best for olive oil production - the Italians frantoio and corregiolo and the Spanish-bred manzanilla. A small amount of nevadillo blanco and kalamata are also planted. Extra virgin olive oil is produced under the McIvor Estate label and available for purchase in small quantities from cellar door or online. Preserved olives are also available in tubs at cellar door.

The olive grove is set out with row spacings eight metres apart with the spacing between trees at five metres. The grove is managed with minimal inputs and is now dry grown. Each year the olive trees receive some pruning, mainly to develop shape in the trees.
